Weekly limit drop
r/codex·11h ago

I've seen a few posts around of people saying that when they close the chat gpt work app, that when they open it the weekly limit is lower! Well I accidentally did a test without trying, last night I went to bed with 90% usage I didn't get a picture of anything because again it wasn't even my intention to even try to catch it. My codex app was open for maybe an hour, maybe 2 hours before I decided to fully close it. Nothing was running for sure. I know that 100% and had no task going at all my u

I now understand why data center servers fail so often. Codex is putting a beating on my local computer.
r/codex·11h ago

Earlier this week, Codex users on Mac were reporting that the desktop app was wearing out their disk because of so many writes. I'm on Windows, and after a few hours of work, Codex makes my computer freeze and I have to restart. I never understood why data centers needed so many failovers because of failing computers, but now I do. I'm also now skeptical about local AI: will these systems cause us to have a shorter shelf life on our computers? I think we're going to end up renting computers in t

There might be an issue with Codex's harness
r/codex·12h ago

Most of the time I use the pi coding agent and since 5.6 came out its been very consistent in terms of usage. I'm on the $20 plan and have been getting $100 of inference per weekly limit. I see a lot of complaints regarding codex usage and it might be because of its harness. I tried running the same backend task a few times in both stock pi and codex and codex always ends up with way more of its context windows filled (Around 10% difference on average). It does have a bit better output than stoc

Give permission to do stuff even with full access?
r/codex·12h ago

I recently had a super nice 20+ hour loop that got a ton done, which is great! It seems like now it's constantly asking me for permission though for tasks that I would assume it can do, like `npx whatever` etc., I've tried toggling 'Full Access' and restarting app... Is there anyway to let it just do whatever without constantly asking me? It's a bummer esp. after such a nice long uninterrupted loop to now coming back to having it ask me "Can I run this super basic visual regression test?" etc.

Where has Codex gone?
r/codex·12h ago

Where has Codex gone? I returned to a weekly project, saw it needed an update, clicked upadate, now all I have is Chat GPT denying that it knows what Codex is, or that it would ever have been able to directly interact with a browser. Weeks of work has just vanished with no trace. Am I missing something obvious - it was a very simple, review a week of discussions, record them analyse and put them into a folder for a separate project.

I’ve been creating some incredible Minecraft mods using Sol. I’ve attempted to make the most ambitious mods ever, ranging from shader engines to NPCs, horror mods, and even a spider rendered from OpenGL. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Sol lately, and I decided to share my creations with my friend. Sol is incredibly skilled at making Minecraft mods; it seems to have an in-depth understanding of the game. I’m surprised that it appears to be trained on Minecraft itself. Furthermore, Sol possesses kn

Can I use different ChatGPT accounts in the Codex app and Cursor/VS Code?
r/codex·12h ago

I have two ChatGPT Pro accounts and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use them with Codex. Previously, with Claude Pro, I had one account logged into the Claude Desktop app (macOS) and a different Claude account logged into IDEs like Cursor and VS Code. That workflow worked well for me. Now I'm switching to ChatGPT Codex Pro and want to do something similar: Codex app (macOS) → Account A Cursor + Codex extension → Account B (or VS Code) However, when I sign in, the Codex app, Cursor, and

Appraisal for codex: Thank you for Limits resets : Mechanistic Theory finished and started to be implemented to create living functional SI substrate. Languages used : Erlang (shell) Lisp (soft tissue). Results soon - Thanks guys for Limits resets :) - these move my work forward :)

My weekly quota is GONE in 2 days thx SOL ULTRA
r/codex·12h ago

What a joke. I'm building backend services, APIs, database migrations, refactoring messy async logic. Not frontend fluff. Not CSS or image gen which is token heavy. SOL ULTRA is supposed to be the big boy for this stuff. It burned through my entire weekly quota in two days (working only for 6 hrs in goal) . Two. I'm not even halfway through my sprint. LMAO the output isn't even better than what Sol High gave me a week ago. GPT 5.6 consumes quota faster and faster with each reset and it is really

I made a whip to make ai agent work faster 💀
r/codex·12h ago

This is definitely coming back to haunt us. Until 2035, the whip is in our hands. Use it carefully… the agents might return the favor one day. Fun fact: I built the entire whip feature in Termi with GPT-5.6 (Extra High) in around 10 prompts. No pre made assets were used. I shared reference images and the Obi Rope documentation, and it adapted everything into a Three.js and React Native implementation. We refined the animations, VFX, and impact feel together. For the sound, I provided a reference

Codex Desktop on Windows hangs every shell command in sandbox mode
r/codex·13h ago

I’ve encountered what appears to be a Codex Desktop Windows sandbox bug after a recent update. System details: Codex Desktop on Windows hangs every shell command in sandbox mode - Codex Desktop package version: 26.715.9868.0 - Windows edition: Windows 11 Home - Windows version: 10.0.26200 - Windows build: 26200 Every shell command hangs before producing output — even something as simple as `echo`. This affects PowerShell, CMD, Git, PTY commands, and the bundled Node runtime. Restarting Codex and

How do you switch between multiple accounts in the Codex desktop app?
r/codex·13h ago

I’m using the Codex desktop app on macOS—not the CLI or terminal. I have several paid ChatGPT accounts already signed in across four Chrome profiles. When one account reaches its usage limit, I want to switch the Codex app to another account without logging out and repeating the full login process. Is there a supported or safe way to keep multiple accounts connected and switch between them inside the desktop app? I’m specifically asking about the app, not tools like codex-auth for the terminal.

Luna vs Terra vs Sol benchmark for my use case
r/codex·14h ago

The intention of this post is just to help those who are still in the works of trying to find a model that is good enough for them, while trying to save as much quota as they can. It's important to know that my specific use case won't apply to all scenarios. TLDR: Luna Medium is my new go-to workhorse. ------------- Background: I've been using all three models since they was released, but I've never really felt I could determine which one is "good enough" for my use case. I've read countless thr

1M Context Window & Ticker for Sol 5.6
r/codex·14h ago

I'm spoiled on 1M Context and despise compacted conversation, which drove me to deploy a lightweight companion for Codex Desktop that: 1) shows the exact active-context count inside the composer, and 2) enables GPT-5.6 Sol's 1M context window instead of the clapped 272k default. Getting up to four times more context in a single session is a big deal for me so sharing with the greater Codex community seemed appropriate. Enjoy! Of course there's a gh repo: https://github.com/USS-Parks/1M-Context-S

Best way to use multiple codex accounts in parallel?
r/codex·14h ago

My girlfriend and I both have chatgpt plus and the same router/IP. I use ubuntu. What is the best way to switch between multiple codex accounts? Do I need to use the second one in a VM? Will openai care if I do that? Do I need to conceal, like different ".codex" dirs?

I used 118M Codex tokens in one day and consumed 71% of my weekly quota. Here is the breakdown
r/codex·14h ago

My Codex weekly quota reset to 100% on July 22. By around 3:51 PM ICT, it showed 29% remaining. I parsed nine Codex JSONL files covering six logical sessions. After removing duplicated history copied into fork/sub-agent logs and excluding compaction markers, I found 945 actual model calls. Codex burned 12% of my Pro 5x weekly allowance because screenshots were passed as text
r/codex·14h ago

A small routine website task burned through roughly 12% of my Pro 5x weekly allowance. Even tiny follow-up messages cost another 2%. After I asked ChatGPT to investigate, it found that screenshots had been passed through text(...) instead of as native images. This inserted millions of characters of PNG/Base64 data into the conversation, which were then processed again on every subsequent turn—ultimately consuming millions of tokens. The problem wasn’t the Extra High reasoning setting. It was ima
